Fer Steinmann's sets explore the deep connections between samba-rock, samba-jazz, Brazilian boogie, and funk — and the rhythms that flow through them: batuque, MPB, Afro-Brazilian grooves, and samba house.

A creative and art director by day, working across photography, film, and branding, Fer brings the same instinct for composition, detail, and atmosphere to the decks. Music is another form of image-making: building a sequence, finding the right tension, knowing when to hold a moment and when to let it move.

Besides being one half of MeninaGroove — the DJ collective she co-founded with Alexandra Henry — and a resident DJ of Brazilian Vinyl Night at Lovely Day, she was a recurring guest on The Forté (The Face Radio, Brooklyn).

Rather than chasing a DJ résumé, Fer is building a point of view: a body of sound shaped by Brazilian musical history, New York energy, and a deep love of records. Her sets move across genres and eras, looking for the unexpected connections that make a room move.

Along the way, she's shared the decks with musicians and DJs from New York and beyond, across rooms like Nublu, Mad Tropical, Berimbau Second Floor, CUE Gallery, Friends and Lovers, and Selva.

Diretora criativa e de arte por profissão, atuando em fotografia, cinema e branding, Fer traz para as pick-ups o mesmo instinto de composição, detalhe e atmosfera. A música é outra forma de construir imagem: montar uma sequência, encontrar a tensão certa, saber quando segurar um momento e quando deixá-lo fluir.

Além de ser metade da MeninaGroove — coletivo de DJs que fundou com Alexandra Henry — e DJ residente do Brazilian Vinyl Night no Lovely Day, também foi convidada recorrente do The Forté (The Face Radio, Brooklyn).

Mais do que construir um currículo de DJ, Fer está construindo um ponto de vista: um corpo sonoro moldado pela história musical brasileira, pela energia de Nova York e por um profundo amor pelos discos. Seus sets atravessam gêneros e épocas, em busca das conexões inesperadas que fazem uma pista se mover.

Pelo caminho, já dividiu a cabine com músicos e DJs de Nova York e de outros lugares, em espaços como Nublu, Mad Tropical, Berimbau Second Floor, CUE Gallery, Friends and Lovers e Selva.
